Actually, that tune is interesting in many ways. The guy knew that he had filched "Sweet home Alabama" and appears to have made amends by referring to it in the song.
Now, this no different to a rapper , rapping over a backing track, but it happens quite rarely in rock music. This track could actually be more important than we think in gentle theft , with a willing nod to influences.
Kind of a bit like "When Smokey Sings" by ABC in which they had a tune that sounded like a Smokey tune of sorts, but reprieved themselves by dedicating it to himself ,in my opinion.
