Reading - 2008/08/24 19:37 Watching the TV coverage it looks rather dull.
Anyone actually there (or Leeds) want to comment?
I used to go to Reading at the end of the festival year (and Glasto at the start) but stopped ages ago when I became elderly.

Thought of going this year but the weather put me off.

Just watching Thomas Tantrum. No talent at all.

Re:Reading - 2008/08/24 19:47 Interview with Lars of Metallica - he followed me around like a puppy about 20 years ago at Donington.

He looks a lot older.

So I'm sure do I.

Re:Reading - 2008/08/25 19:25 Remarkably lacking in talent Sunday - and the Manics? How long have they been around for? Nothing wrong with growing old gracefully (he said) but A Design For Life sounded well laboured as they they had been doing it for 20 years.

Re:Reading - 2008/08/25 19:33 Ah, The Killers, Somebody Told Me, great sound and they looked good too; this was decent stuff.

Re:Reading/Leeds - 2008/08/25 19:52 And it all came to life with the fabulous Arctic Monkeys - or Alex and his Shadow Puppets plus a full orchestra - which I thought was absolutely fantastic.

That boy is a real talent. Amazing.

Re:Reading/Leeds - 2008/08/26 08:10 I obviously should have recorded this for later viewing, sounds good.

There are some highly talented live acts at the moment, a lesson to all young acts that they can`t just expect to "get away with it" either anymore.

McFly are also so good live now, they give any old music dinosaurs a lesson in accuracy.
Last night, one of my lot, borrowed the support acts drummer for a soundcheck, he was great. The levels of playing has leaped in bounds during what is technically a musical recession.
I`m in the very strange situation this month of fixing sessions, with a choice of so many superb musicians, it is a bit like going shopping for them, that said, I will say, if I had a huge budget and an huge party, I would go out of my way to get McFly to play.
