Re:New music thread - great ignored classics. - 2008/09/08 09:43
Trevor Horns` production of Propangda`s song "Dr Mabusa", should have been huge, I could never work out what went wrong there.
All of Martin Fry`s lyrics are superb, I loved the very early arrogance of putting his own name in a song. (The Look of Love) I agree Talk Talk were never anything like Duran, one was likely to create the genius of "Spirit of Eden", one was not.
World Party and "Put the Message In A Box" has just sprung to mind too as a lost classic, as has their "Ship of Fools" song.
And whatever happened to the River City People? They wrote some lovely tunes, then had an unlikely hit with a cover of "California Dreaming".
I think everybody loved Grandmaster Flash, which was a great crossover, also, the whole world went for Cameo.
