commercials - 2006/08/01 20:31
British TV has adopted the US commercials habit of showing about 20 minutes worth per hour. During one show I timed 23 minutes of adverts. Channel 4 have even taken to showing commercials straight after the opening theme, then again five minutes later. We used to get a 2 minute break every 15 minutes. Now the channels are more about making as much money as possible, rather than satisfying the viewer. That's also why late night TV has been taken over by premium rate phone in quiz shows. Commercial TV is in a sorry state.
Fortunately the BBC is still commercial free.
