It seems like when the majors do this sort of thing it's clever marketing but when anyone else does it, eyebrows are raised. Don't really care too much about the music but I can assure you many records have been bought by fans in similar circumstances. I for one have bought the 7 inch of a single only to buy the 12 inch because the 7 inch didn't have the mix I wanted. Get over it folks. All the negative talk smacks of sour grapes.
