Well, no, not equally. Cameron is obliged to, given what's happened and the previous Miliband attack on the whole affair. And Miliband - whose party created the very climate in which leaders seemed to think they needed an utterly amoral and remorseless Campbell-type tabloid bruiser in charge of PR - is now desperately using the conviction as a means to claw back some popularity in the polls. Which is pretty cynical. So Miliband looks quite a bit ghastlier, I'd say. It's all relative, of course, but Miliband stoops a little lower each day. |

I'm actually getting more and more pissed off that Coulson gets found guilty and has all the shit thrown at him; I'm absolutely certain they ALL knew and were part of phone hacking, but then I wasn't in court and haven't been bored to death by the rubbish people call "evidence". But it was just newspaper behaviour. Trivial.
The entire moral panic has been a silly, cruel and unnecessary waste of time, effort and money (that could have gone on better health care and education expenses). The stupid public and stupid media who can't resist a good story.
But this really wasn't a good story at all and it simply closed a national paper which should just have been improved and had knuckles rapped.
Yeah, Andy; you shouldn't have sanctioned Photoshopping my photo to fake up a non story - bad decision, bad editing, bad morally - but that and the millions of other examples of the lousy decline in media behaviour over the past 30 years simply needed cleaning up. Hundreds of destroyed lives and ruined relationships. Ghastly and media has got worse and worse (the decline continues unabated). But phone hacking and witch hunting were never the solution. Neither was Leveson; easily fooled, like Whittingdale's committee.
I shouldn't be surprised that politicians, British Justice and the media have lost the plot yet somehow, naively, I am. |

Ed and Dave look equally ghastly spitting at Coulson; they are only too happy to kick a man when he's down. As long as the media thinks they look good. |

agree and I feel sorry for Coulson as he is to be thrown to the dogs.
Still mystified about this statement to a Parliamentary Committee:
Rebekah Brooks : " "We have paid police for information in the past.
.. payments were only made lawfully."
Anyone know how that works?
without a doubt, the media now rules the UK, politicians merely their servants. |
