I was in PR for years. I successfully planted ludicrous tales in tabloids, some made front page.

Indeed. I wasn't being entirely serious, Hedda.
As a matter of fact, I happen to know a former national tabloid reporter, whose name and paper I shan't mention, who tells me how he made up a story, got it past an initially sceptical editor on the basis that it was incapable of being proved true OR false, and it wound up on the front page. He still has a proud copy.

Anna is a textbook excellent journalist. Editors should make her blog compulsory reading for all hacks. Research. |
