JK2006 Yes and they seem to be a species growing and prospering. There are dozens near my base in the South of France and their favourite meal? Other roadkill magpies on the roads.
Pru Yes. Mind you, if anyone can tel me a good tip to drive away magpies, please tell! They make a sound like a cat being raped, they eat my figs and they throw other birds' eggs from the trees. Horrible things!

JK2006 was doing DIY bits in my house last week and spent most of a day teaching a baby blackbird to fly! He succeeded. I love my birds - for 48 years I've been woken in the mornings by my blackbirds singing... and that's in the middle of London.
