On the way back to my car from the superb Sense of an Ending with Brilliant Broadbent and Chilly Charlotte, I stopped at my favourite Chinese shop in Soho and bought a corn fed fresh free range chicken, roasted with fat back bacon and crisp roast potatoes, served it covered in rich onion gravy with a half papaya and whole avocado, washed down with ice cold Sancerre white wine and San Pellegrino sparkling water (the gourmet's champagne; far less acidic, doesn't taste like cat's piss, is far more thirst quenching, full of grape flavour with fine bouquet). Now ready to roll away the stone.
