JK2006 Sadly, as instructed, the police do; which is tragic. So, of course, does the media - anything for a good story, their only moral code. And so, it appears, do a huge chunk of the public (no time or inclination for complex thought). The butterfly morality of the species arrived this century.

JK2006 It strikes me that he was unwise going along the cowardly religious path of "we should have believed the accusers". No; some of the accusers, yes but not all, by no means all. This has been the problem of the "You will be believed" mantra; many lie, most exaggerate, some are confused, some persuaded by police or media to give a good story.
