In The Know This is exactly what I said the day after the election -

Tory election strategist Lynton Crosby resurfaced in Sydney earlier this week with his verdict on the Corbyn surge - arguing that on polling day "70% of voters thought the Conservatives were going to win".

"They thought we'll reward (Corbyn) for being prepared to talk about interesting things and shake the system up, but we'll still have the comfort of Theresa May as Prime Minister at the end of the day."

It's a refrain that friends and family have repeated to me in recent weeks. They chose to vote for Mr Corbyn more out of a desire to rein in a seemingly omnipotent Theresa May and whittle back her expected landslide rather than out of enthusiasm for him.
