hedda I think I identify with transgender people..after all when I was 14 I used to dress in my Aunt's drag - she owned a pub and I often went to stay for weekends..and sit in her office with her, wearing one of glamorous frocks (think Bet Lynch ). Seemed to convince the Licensing coppers when they came to visit once (for free drinks) but maybe they were just being polite.

Anyway it was short lived because (a) couldn't stand the wigs and make-up and (b) she had a contract to house some old civil servants on pensions who had worked in the Tropics and were mainly alcoholics and I decided to deliver a few bottles of booze (hoping for tips) as a room service dolly but apparently one poor chap was so startled by the young floozie at the door holding out a bottle of Scotch, his DTs came back with a vengeance. I retired.

An interesting case where a Transgender Activist took out a private prosecution of a Feminist Activist (so bloody complicated) but it's all fallen apart.

"Linda Bellos OBE, a leading feminist and anti-racist campaigner, represented by Gudrun Young, appeared today in Westminster Magistrates Court to be informed that the private prosecution against her had been taken over by the CPS and discontinued.

Linda Bellos faced an offence of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour contrary to section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986. The alleged offence arose out of an event called “We Need to Talk” which took place in York on 8th November 2017. This was a public political meeting arranged specifically to debate issues arising out of the proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act 2004, as part of a Government consultation process. These changes would make it much quicker and easier for trans people to legally change their sex by a simple process of “self-certification”.
