Most of the classic epic games in history have been Men's games, Borg V McEnroe 1980, Federer v Nadal 2008, Federer V Roddick 2009 etc, however on a day to day basic the women's game is just as interesting, if not more so. At 5 sets I think this is too long to watch a match, and the game has become too serve dominated, with some of the big servers virtually impossible to beat on serve. I don't want to watch a 6 hour semi-final with a final set of 74-72 or something ridiculous like that where it becomes like a staring contest. the women are also more elegant to look at, no sweaty hairy legs, knobbly knees and silly headbands. Also no realistic british interest in the men's game, whereas Johanna Konta has an outside chance of doing well[/quote]

Barney	And what a magnificent game the semi-final of the Women's World Cup was - even though we lost. Sport brings out so many features within us - that other life experiences can't. Unknown and hidden abilities; things other people notice - but we can't see. It also develops and improves us - and allows us to be better people, and to make friends. Even if you're a bit of a recluse (like me), you can still be involved in sport. Because you don't really have to talk to anyone. Just look focused, stare into the ether and pretend you're very good - and intensely serious about winning!

Barney	Less interesting and exciting? I can't see why. The fact that strength and power, in the women's games, are not major factors allows for skill to come to the fore. Many male tennis players have dominated only because of their ability to deliver rocket-like serves. Swerve, spin and side are more common in the women's games - with football, particularly, developing fast. Virtually all EPL teams now have women's teams.
