why claim about Errol Flynn was born in Ireland and not Tasmania?

Simply because Errol Flynn's father was a world famous embryologist and biologist - who left Tasmania in the 30s.

To become the head of the zoological faculty at Queens University, Belfast - a post he held until 1948.

Flynn junior visited him there and thought it better to be associated with his illustrious father (and his country). As few in Hollywood would have heard of Tasmania.

Theodore Flynn was made an MBE - and had a large Tasmanian type home built overlooking Strangford Lock, with some financial help from his son.

Barney Peter Finch was born in South Kensington in London.

His father was George Finch - born in New South Wales.

Errol Flynn was born in Tasmania.

hedda you didn't pick up such obvious flaws...

Finch was of course born in the UK with an Aussie father.

Merle Oberon was born in Bombay but the studio claimed she was born in Tasmania..being so far away no-one could check but then..why claim about Errol Flynn was born in Ireland and not Tasmania?

# I'm now an Australian citizen (and an Irish one)

## I loved Peter Finch in Network. Such a shame when talented actors die so young.
Barney Merle Oberon was born in Bombay in 1911; her father was an engineer (from Darlington) for Indian Railways.

Because of the visit - of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay, in 1911 - MO was always nicknamed 'Queenie'...

JK2006 "Our"?? You're as British as I am Hedda (well I'm only half anyway).
