Little Sausage Thanks Honey, I’d never heard this song before..
you know, during that time, I really got into both Punk and Disco,
there wasn’t a divide.. the marketing people at the labels or even at radio
didn’t segmatise everyone into little boxes like they do today.. that’s what I don’t like
about streaming services, the algorithms send you recommendations on songs thinking that’s the only style you like...

For me I can just as easily enjoy Sound 9148, Nemo, Sakkarin, One Hundred Ton and a Feather, Bubblerock (illustrating using jk’s catalogue) These are all very different style “artists” there’s Swing, Bubblegum Punk, Disco, quasi heavy metal etc..

jk’s probably the most diverse producer, writer and “artisté” in the pop field .. the only thing jk didn’t release was (that I’m aware of) was electronic dance music 🎵

Anyway, everything is electronic today, music made In The Box 💻 on computers and iPads
JK2006 So I was told at the time. By someone who was there.
Honey Really?!!
JK2006 And you know what Gary Gilmore's last request & song as he died was? My version of Una Paloma Blanca! It's true.

jk I love your very punky song "Graham Greene is Dead"
but it's not true punk as you've actually got interesting lyrics about a real person and life.. it's tells a story..

Most punk had just rubbish lyrics wrapped up with an often fake/pretend rebellion .. what it did have was great energy and excitement...
and it did give the record business a good kick up the behind..
The punk movement gave rise to the independents and the record and printing manufacturing and distribution businesses..
good for retail too... at the same time Disco was happening, both at polar opposite ends of the spectrum.

Punk and the independent record scene was a great time to release records as small independent labels could almost guarantee
selling 10,000 copies of a single as the export market from England into places like USA, Canada, Australia was ripe,
these offshore territories all had an insatiable appetite for anything coming out of the UK that was stamped with punk or sounded
Indy. And the great thing was you would get paid before shipping them out.. you didn't have to wait for the shops to account to the
distributors who then would account to the labels and have all the delays and deductions for breakages, returns and everything else.

So many small indy labels could maintain a cashflow and put out records... Of course all that is gone now.. the tech giants now control
music distribution and you need a hundred billion streams to make anything... at the same time it's a great time as an iPad Pro with GarageBand
or Cubasis can be your studio.. no need for outside musicians, expensive hourly rates in someone else's studio.. and you have it up on the various platforms
within a day or two..

Interesting interview about the independent record business of the late seventies
The following link will take you to the part in the interview about selling singles and exporting to foreign markets

And now my little treat.. Here's jk being interviewed about the Decca years..

Sausage, this, (and many many others) is "real punk" AND "actually got interesting lyrics about a real person and life.. it's tells a story.."
