wyot What is interesting to me is the voices demanding a re-design rather than returning the honour.

If I was handed a medal from an organisation and the design deeply offended me, I would start questioning the organisation and whether I was prepared to accept it in the first place.
?

What sort of a bunch could they be!!?

But in this particular case of course that would lead to loss of considerable prestige, and possibly income.

The answer then is to virtue signal by quibling about the design.

I am a monarchist; but clearly the organisation is mired centuries deep in racism, by any current standard of measurement.

As a grown up who understands that history exists though - and not everything I admire also has to be flawless - I can accommodate the two realisations in one brain.
