Green Man Question 45) Why would anyone want to be a cop now ?

I remember when the police patrolled the streets by foot, they knew your name and you knew theirs, I had ear flicked by a cop and I did deserved it when I was kid but I never did it again.

Even being shown around the police station and the cells was an adventure.

The police were a lot more respected back then compared to now. I haven't seen a copper walking the streets for years. Only the plastic plods, with no authority.

Ridiculous. The problem is Officers not treating suspects with respect and dignity (a few; most do and have my utmost respect for putting their necks on the line). Not following a flow-chart or spreadsheet. Typical Gov depts: solve a problem by creating more guidance, forms & process. Much easier than changing a culture.
