JK2006 That ghastly Doucette woman just said civilians are giving each other bananas and fizzy drinks - "an Arab tradition". In Ramadan? In daylight? It's all beyond me.
Ted In the Koran violence is permitted to fight oppression or for defending religious freedom. But you can not fight anyone who is not acting aggressively toward you.

" .......... If they leave you alone, refrain from fighting you, and offer you peace, then Allah gives you no excuse to fight them" 4:90

So when a Western country like the US invades a place like Iraq, the Koran does give them permission to fight back. So don't be surprised.
veritas you may as well ask those hard right Christians in the USA why they supported the war in Iraq.

JK2006 Looking at Libya - whilst they can't eat or drink during Ramadan days, it is clearly OK to kill people during daylight hours.
