As I've said elsewhere - and probably exaggerated - I think most, if not all, military people go into the armed services in order to kill legally. It's the thrill they want.
It also helps them to avoid working and doing something productive.
You get more silly by the post!
Have you ever worked as military in a pressure situation? One where for say 18 months a time you are in a hostile area, where a sniper or a bomb could take all or part of you?
No of course you haven't,you're just a stupid poster on a forum, who's never done anything more dangerous than spout it's mouth at the local saloon bar to any fools who would listen.
I was responsible a few years ago for organising abroad postings for the Ukraine military. We did peacekeeping in Bosnia and Iraq,de-mining in Lebanon, mechanical and chemical warfare instruction in Gondor Ethiopia etc.I spent time out there with men, many of who had survived the 80s Afhgan campaign.
It's not that the people start off as bad,it's the constant stress of being in the line of fire,it warps and hardens the brain.
You go into the military because unlike lazy ITK here you are prepared to do hard physical work for a pittance.Do you all think windbags like ITK would last any time under real pressure on a 10 mile run with a full pack?
The real problem here are the crazy politicians who cause this problem,Cameron is just the latest in a long line who wants his name in lights for defeating an easy target.
I see the same lack of insight into the military by people here as I would expect elsewhere about false accusations. We're all in glass houses, but at least should get a broader perspective before throwing stones...talking of throwing stones...these young people are the ones you may well need to defend yourselves if the recent riots return!
Interesting insight SE,and while there are of course parts I'm not fully in agreement with the idea that we as a society make these people into what they now are is quite valid. |

when you think the armed forces are a perfect place for a psychopath..imagine how many civilians are killed by those who seek pleasure from it..on all sides in conflicts.
war is a racket. |
