I disagree ... a trial would have lasted years, and he was 69 already. Dying (while awaiting the outcome) would have been a terrible travesty.
Jeremy Bowen found Tripoli to be very quiet...although presumably it was a year ago as well before Nato became involved (unlike London with it's riots).
No - it was last week ! He said he had never know Tripoli to be so calm and peaceful.
must have his work cut out for him though...questioning every Libyan over what they think.
He wasn't questioning Libyans - it was HIS opinion (after visiting regularly for many years.
it is an interesting concept...go directly to the firing squad and avoid a trial. Saves time.
I've been visiting London for years and found it very quiet ( not the traffic of course).
I've never been to Tottenham though.

not sure what the question is ..but yes..I think it's most important to put him and any other war criminal on trial (including G.Bush & T.Blair).
The question was in the first line !!!! ... to make it easy for you.

What would you have us put him on trial for, veritas ?
The killing of over 1000 people at a Triploi prison in 1996 ?
The Lockerbie bombing (appx 350 dead) ?
The killing of WPC Fletcher in London ?
The many many atrocities already reported in Libya ?
The bombing of the nightclub in Berlin (in which many Americans died) ?
The supply of arms and semtex to the IRA (costing hundreds of lives) ?
etc etc
All of the above ?
Each and every one of the above carries a death penalty ...
do you really believe he would have been acquitted of ALL charges ?
Jeremy Bowen (BBC News) reported just now that he has never know Tripoli to be so calm (and hes been visiting regularly for over 30 years). He also said that Libyans are unconcerned about how Gaddafi died ... so long as he is dead !!!
What do you do with a mad dog - - - you shoot it !
Gaddafi was 69 ... the trials could have gone on for years, and he could have died peacefully at The Hague (like Milosovic) waiting the outcome.
You do have support, though, veritas.
We were discussing this in the pub last night and the general concensus was that we should have "given him a fair trial - before hanging him"
Still waiting for an answer, veritas !
Let me know if the question is too difficult?

All the things you mention..a trial would have brought out the truth of what really happened..especially Lockerbie where it's very questionable that Libya was involved and surely many of the relatives who believe that deserve to find out the truth.
Glad Jeremy Bowen found Tripoli to be very quiet...although presumably it was a year ago as well before Nato became involved (unlike London with it's riots).

(PS..I meant David must VAT..not GST ..the Oz version. Which means every single person who makes a purchase is a taxpayer)
