I worked with her briefly - in the very minor and modest sense of 'guiding her around for the week' - a few years ago and found her an eccentric but gentle soul. She kept urging me to read the Beano. But she's a very interesting songwriter, and at her peak was quite special. She's still doing some good stuff, in fact.

Her latest album Sarlight is very good but when I saw her live in 2012, people were moaning and she played stuff from it and got stared and moaned at when I didn't wave my arms in the air. Sorry love I'm seeing Joan not Lindisfarne. The Beano not read that in about 20 years or so.

andrew If she comes to a town near book a ticket...one of the best singers I saw live.
JK2006 Hadn't heard this in ages (Clare Balding just played it). Joan had some superb tracks and a highly original style; pausing when not expected; returning to parts of the melody you wouldn't think. Highly original.
