It's due mainly to the amount of hidden sugars in food - bread being the worst offender.
My dad was diagnosed at 46, having got the Ever Increasing 'middle-age spread' 10/15 years earlier. I found myself speeding along the same road (weight gain, fatigue, fungal problems) despite being very physically active until last Spring - I tried the 'anti-Candida' diet (no bread, no sweet stuff, no processed sugars) and the weight fell off. By last Christmas I was back to the shape I was at 20 - and this was done without cutting out the weekly fish & chips, the occasional night on the beer etc. I just stayed awy from bread, cereals and sweet sugary stuff. Have had chocolate in moderation since Christmas and everything is fine - have stayed away from bread though (barring a bit of Naan with a curry).
Feed the body with sugar and glucose and that is all that will be burned off day to day. |

My friend has Type 2 - and recently got an Insulin Pump which has greatly reduced the drudgery, as it automatically injects the correct doseage.
About the size of a small mobile phone, it is attached to her belt and retails at c£3k. However, she got it free - on the NHS.
Without even asking - and with no means testing, or whatever...
