Topic History of: Is "drug addiction an evil"? Max. showing the last 5 posts - (Last post first)

Our bodies create drugs - we get ourselves into a state and we can live on the drugs released through anxiety, stress, exercise etc.
When my son died, the anxiety left therefore those chemical reactions stopped. I have found it very, very difficult to cope without that anxiety and without that 'fix'. I have gone back to smoking as a way of coping and hopefully in the future I can go cold turkey and stop - at the moment it's my crutch. |

I don't agree with Pope Francis on this. Whilst I have never done drugs or smoked or hardly drink, I don't think addiction to them is "evil". I don't think they are evil. Foolish. Unwise. But not evil.
Did he mean that to supply the drugs is evil? I don't think addiction is evil or wrong, because addiction is a medical state that cant be helped. |

I think he is refering to the damage done to others - families etc (and the cost which we ALL pay) |
