honey!oh sugar sugar. But he has already lost his job. someone else is Elmo now.
Jo Sesame Street? What next. It would be interesting to know why he recanted. Hopefully an attack of conscience but perhaps it was more practical considerations.

Some time ago, while reading round a case that snowballed more recently, I wondered if there was a connection between the original case and a burglary. It's the sort of thing you'd think journalists could look into, but perhaps their hands are tied legally.

It was in connection with this, the question being who obtained and/or distributed the photographs:
"In February this year Coun Hills reported a burglary at his home, then obtained an injunction preventing photographs of himself being distributed in his Clifton ward with defamatory allegations."

There used to be a few articles mentioning this online but they are no longer available, perhaps as they are now quite old.

Taken alongside Steven Messham's retraction of his false allegations - possibly this will become a trend. Might my false accusers rush into a solicitor and file affidavits that they, too, were fibbing? Quite apart from anything else, think of the media fees they would earn from their retraction. It's a great story. And they could justifiably claim they were pushed into it by the investigating officers.

"I was on drugs and became confused when police told me what to say"...

Convictions quashed. Hold the front pages. Someone examining the trial transcript would notice that very serious charges (being the getaway driver in a smash and grab raid on a jewelers) were quietly dropped when he agreed to testify against me. Exclusive in Soaraway Sun. "No fee was paid for this interview (though thousands were given in "expenses")".

It's a funny old world, innit?
