they are really ridiculous magazines but often used by UK publications to covertly release a story which they can then pick up claiming it's already been published elsewhere.
I really like Rebel Wilson and they were particularly nasty about her. I can't help feeling it was because of her weight and her unexpected fame.
This is really a blow for the German owners Bauer Media who paid James Packer a small fortune for them just at the wrong time.
One of these mags had a 5 year deal with tennis player Leyton Hewitt and his wife and because they live quite a normal life they had to keep inventing sensations.
One month they were splitting up & next month getting back together again. I think they split and got back together at least 6 times while never having left each other's side.
In a stunning decision, a Supreme Court judge claimed the extent of Wilson’s defamation was “unprecedented” and warranted substantial damages — to the tune of more than $4.5 million — after the jury found articles published in Woman’s Day, Australian Women’s Weekly, New Weekly and OK! unfairly painted her as a serial liar who’d faked her way to Hollywood."
