But why completely ignore the Debt left by the Tories?

Because it is (was) relatively insignificant?

In 1997 the Labour party adopted Tory spending plans (the only way to give them any credibility and get them elected) and so, for the next three years all was well.

Since 2000 the country has borrowed each and every month to "prop-up" promises that are not funded, plus ever-rising interest payments, hence the accumulated national debt total now.

Its also significant that without the massive reduction in spending by the Tories (the so called "cuts") the national debt would be almost twice as much.

Its like talking to a tree, PB !

... meanwhile, back to my trees !
Spee When the Tories came back in 2010 - the Debt was less than half this...

Most worryingly, it continues to grow at an even faster rate...

"we're still paying back Labour's debt - just don't wash"

Spee The £350+ billion figure equates to £500 billion now!

ITK's response is consistent - 'lol !' - as he is unable to Google the facts.

Like the National Debt increasing by over 100% since Tory controlled governments returned 8 years ago.

Precipitating the largest National Debt ever; the speed of increase is also record-breaking.

£2 trillion or abouts - and most borrowed by the Tories.

Kindly confirm the figures to Derbyshire - after verification....

Spee Relatively insignificant at over £350 billion?!

And you forget that the Tories haven't had a budget surplus for about 40 years.

Unlike Labour...
