Actually, Brexit for beginners should involve a thorough understanding of the concept and history of political sovereignty, going back at least to 1642; a similarly sound understanding of the concept, and contentious developments, of federalism; as well as a detailed and constantly updated understanding of contemporary macroeconomics and the diverse interpretations of and conflicting ambitions for the EU itself. Most of the stunningly smug remainers have shown barely any of these qualifications, and the sad thing is the shameful ignorance on both sides of this wretched debate has been obscured by the ludicrous conviction among the middle classes that one side has voted intelligently while the other hasn't.
If one's exposure to Leave voters is people on social media (e.g. pro-Remain Facebook pages) posting badly spelled rants, insults and mindless slogans (e.g. "Out, out, out", "We're leaving, end of!" etc.), it's easy to assume that there's not much thought or intelligence there.
I strongly hope that Facebook posters in general are not representative of humans. |

Yes, most have forgotten what the EEC/EU is about
Maybe though not Junker
Who said today "Ireland's border is our border"
Not what Ms May wanted to hear
On yet another Brussels sojourn
Dividing a small island (Ireland) 100 years ago was never a good idea
Not least because of those who died opposing it
But now, there could well be another century of conflict - political, economic and other...
