Jo Now it gets even more complicated. The second accuser is claiming she was also raped by someone else and told Fairfax about it.

Duke investigating sexual assault allegation made against former basketball player

"Ms. Watson was raped by a basketball player during her sophomore year at Duke," a portion of Watson's statement read. "She went to the Dean, who provided no help and discouraged her from pursuing the claim further. Ms. Watson also told friends, including Justin Fairfax."
Jo Now a second woman is alleging rape, amidst calls for the lieutenant governor to resign.

Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax faces second sexual assault allegation

Watson is not seeking financial damages and has alerted Fairfax through her legal team that she would like him to resign, the statement adds.

Her legal team released an email exchange between Watson and a former Duke classmate from October 2016, in which Watson responds to an invitation to a fundraiser for Fairfax by saying, "Justin raped me in college and I don't want to hear anything about him. Please, please, please remove me from any future emails about him please, Thank you!"

Fairfax swiftly denied the allegation and called for an investigation into the accusations.

"I deny this latest unsubstantiated allegation. It is demonstrably false. I have never forced myself on anyone ever," he wrote in a statement. "I demand a full investigation into these unsubstantiated and false allegations. Such an investigation will confirm my account because I am telling the truth. I will clear my good name and I have nothing to hide."

The lieutenant governor cited his prior FBI background checks and campaigns as yielding no such history, and stressed that he would not resign.

The statement went on to say that Watson shared her account of the rape with friends in emails and Facebook messages that the law firm has obtained. The firm also has statements from former classmates “corroborating that Ms. Watson immediately told friends that Mr. Fairfax had raped her,” Smith wrote.

“Ms. Watson is reluctantly coming forward out of a strong sense of duty and her belief that those seeking or serving in public office should be of the highest character,” Smith said. “She has no interest in becoming a media personality or reliving the trauma that has greatly affected her life. Similarly, she is not seeking any financial damages.”

The statement goes on to say that Watson hopes Fairfax will resign.
Randall Yet more evidence of what I regularly say on here.

This nonsense legal edifice of so-called sexual offences isn't a genuine legal concept. It fails to stand up to even cursory scrutiny, when set against the principles of a liberal democracy.

It's a political scheme used to seize political and economic power and assets, exactly like Soviet, Chinese or North Korean citizens being denounced for being a so-called counter-revolutionary or some such meaningless bollocks. And with approximately the same standard of checks and balances...
JK2006 The madness spreads as I predicted 19 years ago... when it first happened to me and I could not believe our species could be so bonkers.
Jo CNN was reporting last night that Virginia's top three officials, who are Democrats, are embroiled in scandal. The attorney general, who is white, has admitted to wearing "blackface" on an occasion in the 1980s, the governor, who is white, denies being in an old photo showing a student wearing blackface, and the state's lieutenant governor, who is black, is facing allegations, rather like Judge Kavanaugh, from a female academic, also black, that he sexually assaulted her in 2004. He denies this.

Professor Comes Forward With Graphic Details of Alleged Sexual Assault by Virginia Lt. Governor

“After the assault, I suffered from both deep humiliation and shame,” Tyson writes. “I did not speak about it for years, and I (like most survivors) suppressed those memories and emotions as a necessary means to continue my studies, and to pursue my goal of building a successful career as an academic.”

Tyson is dedicating her current fellowship at Stanford to studying sexual assault politics and policies, according to her biography on the university’s website.
