Jingle Singles .. turning TV/Radio ad jingles into Pop Singles and Radio Hits !!
Actually there's a few examples
Cook/Greenaway did it with the Coca Cola jingle "I'd Like To Buy The World A Coke"
This became "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" by The New Seekers
whom Laurence Myers of GTO Records/GTO Films had some involvement
David Dundas did it with "Jeans On" which was originally a tv ad for Brutus Jeans
once again written by Cook/Greenaway (with Dundas)
Then that became a hit song
Fanta soft drink had a very catch jingle around 1975/6 but I couldn't find a clip but I did find another Fanta Jingle with a catchy tune
On the subject of those Top of the Pops (released on Pickwick Records) soundalike compilation albums
Laurence Myers and his brother were involved with one company releasing them (the name of the label escapes me right now..)
And Alan Crawford the Australian music publisher who moved over to England in the 1960's and helped setup Radio Atlanta off the coast of the UK
which later merged into the Radio Caroline organisation, also was involved in TOTP soundalike compilation albums.
Record producer Alan Crawford conceived the idea for Top of the Pops, the Pickwick label agreed to undertake Crawford's idea and the first volume was issued in mid-1968.
As a kid in the 70's I bought them and thought they were a curiosity and usually good remakes... Elton and others cut their creative teeth singing on these records.

I have a friend who is soundtrack mad. He a has compliation of old TV shows and commercials. There is a niche market for it. I have a few movie soundtracks my favourites are Midnight Express, Vanishing Point and Biggles Adventures in Time.
I wouldn't buy jingles from commercials, that's a waste of good money.
I love going through junk shops all see is the usual crap records but tons of Top of the Pops to wallpaper Buckingham Palace times over.

Did people really used to buy vinyl singles of TV advert jingles? I can't believe anybody would. Then again, people did used to buy those crappy 99p Woolworth compilation albums of cover versions of chart singles. Personally I try, whenever possible, not to buy anything that's branded; it's a sucker's game. Then again, if I did, I s'pose it'd give me something to post about on my Instagram stream ...

Thank you jk for being so candid about these ghastly experiences of dealing with the crooked behaviour and cunning tricks that the British judicial system seem to get away with.
Playing (or gaming) their own system at the expense of innocent people who have been wrongly accused and often jailed for things that never took place.
Not to mention careers, reputations and livelihoods wrecked..
Your movies, books, records and online videos will all help to tell the story of your lifer and the injustices and battles you've had to face over the past 20 years.
What a 20 years it's been.
There's been a lot of good to come out of this however, you've been super productive as a one man multi media machine with movies, books and music that entertain and tell the truth that the tabloids all conveinently leave out.
Frankly I don't know how you do it, but you do... a creative dynamo...

I always liked Peter Shelly's "Gee Baby" and "Love Me Love My Dog" which only recently I found out was co-written by Marty Wilde
Lord Michael Levy had a horrible home invasion in 2003 when he was 58 at his mansion in Mill Hill (or was it Totteridge), he was hit on the head with a shovel and had his wrist broken by the violent intruders.. who got away stealing £80,000 with of jewellery and other items.
Anyway.. I guess it's just a mad bad world.. but soon jk you'll be frolicking in the blazing sunshine of the South of France enjoy swimming in the clear water pools and sipping exotic drinks on your private balcony,
Good times ahead.. once this trivial (but dangerous for some) virus has run it's crazy course...
