hedda the mob that stormed the Capitol are so endemic of today's Social Media. They live their lives through it.

It was evident that once they smashed windows and doors and gained access..they had no bloody idea what to do then. They wandered aimlessly as though they were on a Congress tour.

There is hugely funny vision of one mob smashing their way into the foyer and then politely filing between the ropes as visitors usually have to.

So much for The Revolution. And of course a 10 year jail sentence awaits those identified and charged..courtesy of D. Trump.

Which brings me to JK's wacky notion ( and I mean this kindly ) Trump will become a Biden fan and so on.

Which means those 74 million voters will really feel betrayed after all the lies Trump has spoken about Biden.

Everything changed the minute a policeman died. That was the moment Trump's future was defined. That was The End.

Trump's fanatical fans are the sort of people who can turn sharply and go the opposite way just as they have with Fox News which is now scrambling to recover some of their Red Neck base.

Many are already claiming that Trump has abandoned and betrayed them with his speech saying there will be a "peaceful transition". Mind you he could say the opposite tomorrow.

This is a slow burner. He told them (no doubt under lawyer's orders) that everything they have done and sacrificed was a fraud.

There will be nothing like a MAGA Fan scorned.

I have to say it again : the Trump Era was for a time ( a short 4 years) but not for all time.

## There will be a younger, smarter, cleverer and far more political astute Trump out there who will be able to harness the Trump Mob.

Yes, the norm for these harmless idiots who court 'fame' and airtime on disjointed streaming sites - rather than making political statements.

Weed is the major influence - everyone of the Capitol visitors was as high as a kite. So this was not anarchy or sedition - just a chance to be seen.

These people are been talked about everywhere and watched all over the globe - mission accomplished. Wait for similar outings.
Wyot Very little isn't filmed or recorded these days you are right. The public and the private blur. This is likely to have a long term impact on people's psychology and behaviour. And even further you can't even be sure that what you are watching or hearing is real. Where does "reality" fit in anymore!

We need GM to point us to a good SF novel to find out...
hedda One aspect of the last 15 years that is a real conundrum for me is the advent of far better cameras in mobile phones.

It first hit me about 9 years ago when I was invited to attend a store opening in Sydney where Kim Kardashian was to be the "guest of honour" (I knew the shop owner).

I never made it inside. I arrived on time but there must have been about 600 fans blocking the entrance. I watched from afar as Kardashian arrived as nearly every single one of those fans held their phones aloft.

I found it so bizarre and have watched each new drama (anti-vaxer, Covid event etc) with amusement & horror as no event is not without 100s of "citizen journalists" filming every moment.

It's been great for the MSM as they get cheap footage and I admit, I find lots of it compelling. Most of what is filmed is tiresome and boring but every now & then someone is in the right spot to get some action.

It's also resulted in newspapers having laid off photographers around the world & retaining the bare minimum of staff (an insider tells me Murdoch is planning another round of mass redundancies especially in the UK and Oz)

I think the mad side of "citizen journalists" was on full view with the invasion of The Capitol.

The Australian ex-PM Paul Keating once famously said in Parliament as he taunted an upper crust Opposition Leader who went purple with rage and spluttered indignation.."this is the salmon that jumps on the hook for you"

Citizen Journalism's full madness was on view the other day as the proles stormed Congress. Not only did those invading the building commit a serious crime and face severe penalties..they filmed themselves and uploaded the evidence to Social Media.
