Wyot I know what you mean Hedda about how Christopher Hitchens talked and I have often thought it must be tiring to try and speak in perfect and original sentences all the time. When I was younger I lapped up his writing and still think he is a wonderful essayist; but as I get older and more "conservative" (sorry Hedda I know you have resisted that cliched journey...or rather assume you have as to be to the left of you seems unlikely!) I find myself agreeing with almost everything Peter Hitchens says. Mind you he talks like a pompous arse too...
JK2006 Like you, Hedda, I've found myself agreeing with Peter H more and more. I fear, unless Down Under they increase vaccine delivery, you're in for a cold season of massive Covid drama. So many potential victims, aged nicely during the summer season, waiting to drop off twigs (do they fall upwards down there?).

Also an interesting bit about how everyone said masks did nothing to protect against Covid, then that they did when the politics suited and how the earlier stuff mysteriously vanished from the internet...

It's interesting that Hitchens puts his head above the parapet on such a subject and I tend to agree with him on that (not on may other matters).

## I found his brother Christopher to be an absolute bore and once walked out of a speech ( to the bar) he gave at the Sydney Writer's Festival after an hour because..well he was frigging boring. Friends of course disagree and act like I'm being sacrilegious but I never found anything he said to be original but I thought he had a pompous manner of talking as though he was saying incredibly profound things.

I digress..the Wimmins Movement ( as opposed to genuine Feminists) are raging away in Australia after the Attorney General was accused of rape via an anonymous letter (even though he complainant withdrew her police complaint and committed suicide the following day), according to a "whistleblower" some MPs hired rent boys ( Canberra being a "territory" and not a State has 1000s of Brothels and Sex Shops) and shagged them in the Parliament House chapel ( unused by anyone else- the Godless fiends), and some Conservative MPs wanked off over a (female) Minister's desk and posted pics on the net.

No evidence of course but the Mejjah has lapped up every moment as it is ( to quote JK) A GOOD STORY.

A Conservative female MP also announced she was retiring from politics after endless sexual abusive tweets etc from "the left" but our brave female "journalists " who accepted all unproved accusations about Tories have been attempting to pick apart her tale so as we all know: not all victims are equal!

## My theory is the CIA who really run Australia encourage the local brothels and probably have them bugged because of the huge number of Embassies there.

### I've only been to Canberra once..a few years ago. The most fabulous Highway ever (for politicians of course) and in my 20 year old Citroen with that dream like ride, 3 hours of cruising.. such a treat.
Odd place but very beautiful in Autumn with so many trees ..it was for an exhibition and I was made to get drunk in a hotel bar after by a noted billionaire by the name of Kerry Stokes. I don't know him but he kept buying drinks for everyone in the bar.

### I give Oz's fulmination about another month to run before it fizzles out. Fortunately in the UK there are so many more matters competing in the Good Story department. In Oz Hitchens would have been absolutely Drawn & Quartered by the Feminazi Mob at this stage, over his column with his carcass hanging from the Opera House as a warning.
