as an Indian mystic once said (or words to this effect):

the sole reason for a gun is that it must be fired and the sole reason is that it must kill so inevitably..every gun will be fired one day !

profound or what !

I've never seen a gun in the USA but it now terrifies me there are so many.

## as a kid in the army Cadets I was given a 303 rifle (1931)..Christ it was heavy (no ammunition)and once had to dive to the ground with this frigging great weapon..nearly broke my arm.

I wondered "WTF am I doing in this ridiculous uniform that doesn't fit and a bloody great rifle" but shortly after I was frog marched out of the Cadets because my hair was too long.

Your Indian mystic is unaware of competitive shooting, then?
