Isn't there a tennis organisation like a Union in Australia? Surely they must be aware that if Novak is deported, dozens of others will (I hope) pull out of the stupid Australian Open and future events will probably have to be cancelled?

Tennis is obviously a $Billion industry in Oz and the Australian Open one of the world's premier tennis events.

Of course it's hugely damaging especially for the state Victoria being one of it's biggest money events.

I doubt that nay other player will leave in "protest"..just so much money involved..managers and so on and very stiff contracts signed etc.

This is now a ruthless sport with $Millions in play for the players.

I think it's coming down to an Immigration issue with the media playing both sides here. Sport is one of the biggest money makers for TV stations and certainly the Murdoch media..they are walking a fine line here..do they support Novak and the 1000s of Serbian immigrants doing their lovely dances outside his hotel..or the 1000s screeching they wouldn't get away with fibbing on an immigration form.

I'm of course just loving how the politicians involved especially the ghastly PM who has so much egg on his face.

Very mean of me I know as their are millions of local tennis fans who want to see Novak play.

There should be a mass boycott by tennis players. What happened to "My body my choice" or is that for abortions.

After the clarification it appears Novak did, indeed, inaccurately fill in one section of the Visa. However, if he is testing negative now, that would be a very trivial reason to deport him after a Judge has declared he should NOT have been refused admission without longer time to investigate. If he IS deported, many past (and future) immigrants should also be deported for making mistakes on the declaration. Not One Rule for one, as media say.

He says the "declaration" was filled in for him but alas, having filled in so many myself they clearly state you are responsible for whatever is written.

Tennis is now so ruthless I'm sure some players would like to see hm deported.

It's become a huge political bungle and I think with Immigration matters judges have no choice but to stick to the law.
