Well all I can say is that (if I get to your age) a retirement plan that sees me spending months of the year chilling out in 5 star Moroccan and European hotels, will be judged a success by me |

When I planned my retirement decades ago, interest was around 10% so I reckoned that savings of a million or so would see me through until death, retired in comfort. Then of course everything collapsed so when I retired (and after wasting that million defending myself against false allegations in 2001 - meaning I had to get Legal Aid for 2018) I had to cut right back, use the dwindling capital or rely on friends and companies to pay my bills. Now - hoorah - interest rates are to rise so I can stop eating into my capital. Sadly, of course, that capital has all been used up. But for others, taught to save, this is good news. I shall simply be happy to use my pensions wisely. And to accept the support of friends (of whom, thank heavens, I have dozens). |
