Hedda	it's remarkable how many people ( even Private Eye) do fall for The Big Lie as old Adolphe called it but it does work every time : you state the lie and repeat many many times..and then the denials look like catch-up and suspect. It's been used superbly by US political parties who have refined it to a perfect art : such as the claim Obama was born in Kenya and his birth certificate is a fake. From then on precious column inches, air time and so on is used up in denials or discussions. The oxygen is sucked out of real news. Which gives credence to the question : is there something more sinister behind the Savile claims and what is it?
