PaulB I still have an old crumpled half rupee note which was signed by Vera Lynn when my grandfather was in Burma during WW2, and a copy of a photo of her with my grandfather's squadron. He was on guard duty at the time of her visit so he asked his closest friend Ted Smith (the short guy beside Vera in the pic) to get her autograph, and the only piece of paper he had was the bank note. The photo is one of several taken at the time. The one I have is similar except that Ted Smith is holding a white mug in his hand.
My Grandfather died of a coronary just a couple after the end of the war. I have his medals in a box, but I think the note with Vera's signature was his most precious souvenir of the war years.

JK2006 In March and a great way to celebrate - a new album. Let's remember - some of her war time hits were fabulous in their own right - White Cliffs of Dover is still a gem.
