JK2006 Yes it was my TV show Good Evening I'm Jonathan King which "exposed" that - I was rather angry at having to do so; for years I'd been doing the same (i.e. Hedgehoppers Anonymous); everyone knew bands like The Monkees didn't play on the early hits; I felt it was unfair on the Love Affair but my Producer insisted.
Chris I understand the Love Affair hits were basically 'The Keith Mansfield Orchestra' with Steve Ellis vocals.
Talking of which...
honey!oh sugar sugar. I had no idea he was so young when he was in Love Affair. He was only sixteen in 1966.
andrew He still tours and a friend of mine said 'he still has it'.

Was there some controversy that Love Affair, didn't actually play the song apart from Steve singing it ?
JK2006 On Sounds of the 60s they often play Love Affair hits and almost every time I am astonished by how good a singer Steve was (and I gather still is - he tours constantly). A Day Without Love is remarkable.
