Great work JK on Eurovision, but the fact is that most people when asked think that Bucks Fizz were the last UK winners, and they forget about Katrina (partly because she was American). You say that Gina G was the biggest selling British entry, but more reliable sources say that Brotherhood of Man were the biggest selling Eurovision Entry ever. |

Let's not forget, please, what was the hidden ingredient in the UK entries 20 years ago. JK (that's me) was asked to take over finding and selecting the UK entry. My first entry - Love City Groove, was a Top Ten hit but, better than that, it attracted young supporters and, being by a mixed race outfit doing a rap type track, brought in loads of different age, skin colour and varied music fans. My second attempt - Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit was, I think, my best ever entry but we didn't win. Had it been sung by my old friend (still) Katrina, I think it would have done - and Katrina did win it for the UK the next year, with Love Shine A Light. The following year, in Birmingham, we came second with Imaani. Not a bad selection for the UK Producer. I'm quite proud of it, amongst my other achievements. I also made many friends through Eurovision, most of whom remain friends to this day. |
