JK2006 In days gone by a Press Release went to the Nationals, Billboard, Music Week; I thought this should first appear here. Spread the word!

As I’ve grown older I’ve seen the music industry change radically. Streaming appears dominant but so does use of past hits in films, commercials and TV and radio. Everyone’s Gone To The Moon, the song I wrote and sang in 1965, has earned huge amounts of money due to news coverage of the Apollo11 anniversary - it was the first pop track to reach the moon as astronaut Michael Collins’ choice. It is also featured in the soundtrack for the new Netflix movie, In The Shadow Of The Moon. A few years ago my arrangement of Hooked On A feeling was in the Guardians of the Galaxy film. As was I’m Not In Love by 10cc.

The best and most active company boosting income from past hits seems to be Hipgnosis. I’ve known both Merck Mercuriadis and Nile Rodgers for years.

So we have passed our 10cc catalogue over to them to manage, administer and promote.

I anticipate an enormous increase in interest for these wonderful songs. I have always felt that Sheet Music is the second best album of the era, after Sgt Pepper by The Beatles, and John Lennon told me he agreed, back in the 1970s.

Likewise my publishing company Jonjo Music Ltd has been placed with CTM in Holland. They express great interest in the hundreds of copyrights.
People tend to forget that in songs on which I sang, over 40 million records were sold in the last century. They continue to do so today.
And my productions, including Genesis (recently passed to Cherry Red), sold far more.

I anticipate with excitement the advance of the next stage of our glorious music industry and thank Merck and Andre for their enthusiasm.
