How can you trust someone (Assad) who has put obstacles up on every occasion?
He will delay and prevaricate (like Saddam Hussein, who ran rings round the weapons inspectors for years)
How could you ever know that you had ALL the weapons?
How can you "police" the weapons - said to be in 50 different sites - in a war zone (without "boots on the ground")?
"If Saddam Hussein's Iraq is anything to go by, destroying Syria's massive chemical weapons arsenal will mean checking dozens of far-flung sites in a war zone while the government employs delaying tactics to hide the banned munitions, an expert involved in past U.N. disarmament missions said.
Bashar al-Assad's chemical weapons network comprises remote underground bunkers where hundreds of tons of nerve agents are stored, scud missiles and artillery shells, possibly armed with cyanide, and factories deep inside hostile territory used to produce mustard or VX gas, experts believe.
"It's big. He has one of the biggest chemical weapons programmes in the region and even in the world," said Dieter Rothbacher, a former U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq who trained members of the team that just returned from Syria.
" There are calculations that to secure them up to 75,000 ground troops are needed," he said in a Reuters interview. " It took us three years to destroy that stuff under U.N. supervision in Iraq."

On the good ship Demon Tea (with the DDS), you'll meet many more who also think they're of royal blood. Indeed, you might even meet your ancestors Charles II and Richard III in person(s); they (some are imposters!) often attend these gatherings - so, you'll be in your element.
Captain Jack Sparrow (he of the Caribbean) will detail his exploits in his lecture on 'People's Fantasies' - and the bingo will be held (four times a day) in one of the numerous Eyre rooms. But, beware, Sparrow is a charlatan and bingo cheat.
Please ask all the Richard III's why he ended up in a Leicester car park; did he not pay his fine and does he want to be reburied as a Catholic in York? And, no doubt, all your fellow DDS members will love to hear your views on the royal family, the disabled, the homeless and the disadvantaged.
And your beloved Labour Party. You won't forget to come back, will you?

Very clever ... the French !
The new resolution being tabled at the UN calls for removal / destruction of all chemical weapons in Syria, and calls for "severe response" if Assad fails to deliver (which he will).
The Russians WILL have to sign-up to the new resolution as it backs-up their own attempt to resolve the situation - BUT if (when) Assad fails to deliver the resolution (authorising force) is already there - and Russia has agreed to it !
However, Russia's understanding of the deal reached with the US in Geneva appears to be at odds with that of the western allies, in that it believes a military option should only be on the table in the event of non-compliance from Syria.

Oh dear ..... sadly I was RIGHT yet again !
The head of the task force in charge of eliminating Syria's chemical weapons says Damascus still holds about 7.5% of its 1,300-tonne stockpile at one site.
Envoy Sigrid Kaag urged the Syrian government to meet a Sunday deadline to remove its arsenal from the country.
She also said the UN was concerned by recent reports that Syrian forces had used chlorine gas as a weapon.
Chlorine was not a substance included in the deal, which is widely seen as having averted US military action against the Syrian government.

The current conflict in Ukraine is DIRECTLY linked to this incident ... having run rings around Obama (and made him look weak and foolish) Putin now thinks he can get away with anything.
