He`s a lovely fella, but the current regime appear to want a team bearing the resembelence of an army swarming down on the opposition. Becks does not fit in this plan.

What they are looking for is a team that can actually WIN something ! (anything will do !)

Beckham can always do something with a ball when there's lots of space around him and he's under no pressure from the opposition. Notice with this latest goal that there were no defenders at all. Not sure what they were thinking. Even one man in his way could have made a difference. My mother could have scored with that much freedom of space.

It was hardly a great achievement.

Did anyone see that Brazilian club match clip,(Monday I think) where after a shot had gone into the side-netting,the ref correctly spotted no goal, the ball boy then delivered the ball to the goalkeeper, and it rolled past the goalie into the net, the ref looked again and gave a goal, assuming he had made an error!?
It caused a riot.

I deliberatly left out the fact that the ref was a woman GP, for fear that I may appear sexist.

Yes I think he did retire, the sound was down on the telly, but he appeared sincere about something or other.
