The size of the overall UK economy will this summer overtake the peak level it was at before the 2008 financial crisis, a business lobby group says.
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) thinks the second quarter, starting in April, will see GDP exceed the level seen at the start of 2008.
In upgraded forecasts, it estimates economic growth will be 2.8% this year - up from its earlier estimate of 2.7%.

With more people in work than ever before ... a clear sign that everything the Coalition promised is being delivered.
As more and more people are facing up to reality - that life on the dole is no longer an option - the balance of payments will soon start to swing the right way.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lowered its forecast for global economic growth this year, from 3.7% to 3.4%.
The reduction reflects a weak start to the year in the United States and a number of downgrades to the outlook for several other individual economies.
However there were uplifts for some countries, the largest being the UK.
The global forecast for 2015 is unchanged, with growth predicted to be 4%.
Several countries do receive an upgrade and the largest for 2014 is for the UK - from a 2.8% to a 3.2% expansion of the economy.

Isn't the worldwide economic boom a blessing?
You forgot to mention the mess the Eurozone is in! A zone that too many in the coalition would have joined!!
Within the coalition Ken Clarke,Clegg leg and the ginger rodent Alexander were all in favour of joining.
Thank God the wisser heads were in government at the time.

Interesting article
www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/07/25/geor...4.html?utm_hp_ref=uk
Personally I am glad that the UK is moving out of recession even though oddly the recession is the main reason I have survived to date due to the lending rate at 0.5%. Thus renting out my London house and having net income(btw low price area so no at this stage I am not yet one of those richer areas yet. That is until the crossrail gets nearer completion if I can hang on that long. Bring back the recession. No do not mean it, really!!)
I am happy that more people are in work. The best figure that gives an overall indication of people getting into work as an overall picture is the economically in active number which has dropped from over 9m to around 8.7m. Numbers in work a good figure but it is better represented as a percentage which at this stage I can not find a historical graph. So, for example, if we suddenly had a huge influx in immigration(god forbid!) and the people in the age range of 16 to 64 the working age range went from the now over 40m to over 45m but the people in work increased from 30m to 31m. A million more people in work a fantastic number that the Tories would put on the news every day. But as a percentage a major drop as there are now 3m to 4m looking for work (I am allowing for people in education and who do not need to work). This example is fictious and is used to illustrate how good statistics can be used to misled regrettably the ever gullible public I am extremely sad to say.

There isn't one ... the UK is doing BETTER than everyone else !
So these figures from the IMF will show The UK doing better than EVERYONE else?
www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/weo/2014/update/01/
Allowing for small differences with different calculations...the IMF show
UK - 2.4%
USA - 2.8%
Central and Eastern Europe - 2.8%
Commonwealth of Independent States - 2.6%
China - 7.5%
and even Sub-Saharan Africa has us well beaten at 6.1%
Oh and thanks for the spelling corrections, you stick to the spellings,I'll stick to showing you up as a fool who invents figures to back up a bigoted argument

The UK economy has returned to pre-crisis levels by expanding 0.8% in the second quarter of this year.
On an annual basis gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by 3.1%.
The figures show the economy is now worth 0.2% more than it was at its peak in 2008, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.
The UK economy is forecast to be the fastest growing among the G7 developed nations, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
On Thursday, the IMF predicted the UK would expand by 3.2% this year, up from a previous forecast of 2.8%.

Not the same at all.
Doing well is not the same as claiming to be the best. The number two country in the world is China, who constantly averages at least double the record UK figure.
Also you denied there was a worldwide economic boom,do you still deny this? Even the silly Eurozone is starting to show a small growth!

For the first time the National Debt is higher than GDP.
ITK - do you know what either means?
Or have any incisive comment about the inevitable consequences...

The figures are for GROWTH ... the UK has the fastest GROWTH (according to the IMF)
PS - a small growth is not the faster , is it !
