My Mums` Xmas request..... 17 Years, 6 Months ago
....well I wont reveal her age, suffice to say she is older than me, she was telling me about this marvellous new singer she had not heard of before, and would quite like the cd.
She could not remember the name, but said he was very a very large man, and she had watched him on Saturday night on telly. This took some wittling down, but Ant and Dec were swiftly ruled out oddly enough.
And guess what? It turned out to be Meat Loaf! Now THAT is crossover appeal! My Dad was mentioned on Jo Whiley once for being the oldest listener at the tender age of 79, and for last Christmas I bought him a Ministry of Sound box set, which he loves, the variety of noises coming out of my old family house in December, will confuse many relatives methinks.
Certainly a Daniel O`Donnell free zone.

I too watched TOTP2 on Saturday - and have been singing "I'd Do Anything For Love" by Meat Loaf ever since !

Meatloaf certainly appeals to all ages, because of his genuine talent. During my 12 years on hospital radio I had many requests for him, along with Jim Reeves, AC/DC and The Spinners - all being played on the same show, and - wonderfully enough, people enjoyed the variety. Many Meatloaf requests came from the over 50s.

I'm so glad you've all picked up on this... 17 Years, 6 Months ago
I thought the Meatloaf clip on TOTP2 was the best thing on TV last night (and what on earth was Steve talking about when he said Meat's voice was dodgy?).

Oh for the days of musical and visual imagination and humour!

Wonderful stuff; mesmerising TV.
