Three months after News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch hosted a fund-raiser for Hillary Clinton's re-election campaign, the senator is speaking out against the media company's social-networking site MySpace: "There's a lot of defamatory information put there for malicious reasons."

Interesting article - to quote Clinton directly...

"We try to protect our kids in other ways, but we leave them at the mercy of the Internet," Mrs. Clinton said. "Myspace was thought to be so harmless at first, but there's a lot of defamatory information put there for malicious reasons. The Internet is pretty much unregulated, and the public is increasingly concerned about mySpace."

Actually You Tube and My Space keep very close track of Hate Speech and other malicious posts... they confirm IP numbers and e-m site addresses (hate posters are inevitably pretty stupid and don't realise how transparent e-mail addies are) and notify the relevant forces (FBI, British Scotland Yard, French etc) who then list those as potential dangers to be monitored.

So the haters are putting themselves right into a category of serious observation.

Paradoxically they shoot themselves by thinking they are hurting others.

I'm all for clamping down on hate mail, but can the same methods be used for more sinister purposes such as tracking people who merely have the wrong political views, etc.? Let's not fall into the trap of using children as pawns in an over zealous censorship campaign.
