The world has gone bonkers ! 11 Years, 2 Months ago
An Italian cycle race starts in Belfast ???

The Tour de France (the clue is in the title !) starts in Yorkshire ??

Just an "extra" way to fleece the fans - and they are too dumb to realise it.

When I was infants we had wait 3 hours on a cloudy day just watch Tour de France to go past, it was over in seconds then we had to write a report on it, I didn't even know the cyclists, the only sport on TV in my house was MOTD, even then I couldn't stay up to watch it, of course only rich people had Sky TV in the early 90's.

Rooney is always hyped up, same with Becks he scored in the competition but he never won it. Then the excuses like it was too hot, bumpy pitch and homesick. I been to hundreds of non league football games they play on bumpy pitches all the time.

Seems its not just ITK that "gets it" !

Wayne Rooney has shrugged off criticism from his former Manchester United team-mate Paul Scholes that he may be past his peak.

The England striker was responding to comments from Scholes, who questioned whether Rooney was "worn out" after a long career.

Scholes, 39, who played alongside Rooney at Old Trafford, speculated on whether England's management team would have the courage to drop him.

Well ... it starts tomorrow and (as fully expected) the local TV has just announced that there are still tickets left for the opening ceremony !!!!!

Just as I expected - like the Olympics and other hyped-up events - no one is interested LOL !

Just a few moronic will watch (as they have nothing better to do (and it makes a change from the test card)

Le tour is another top sporting event - but, then, you despise the Olympics (particularly the Paralympics), World Cup and those who love sport.

The Duke of Devonshire is even allowing the race through his land. And grateful for the publicity. That's why its been done (as well as helping UK cycling) - at the specific request of Cameron.

The race has already been in several countries before - here, neighbours and even Ireland. Is there any sport/anyone you like ITK? Gardening, maybe.

More hype / more dodgy figures / more phoney claims !

They can't even sell-out the 10,000 seat Leeds Arena - its that popular LOL ! (and we all remember the empty seats at the Olympics don't we - despite the claims !)

Meanwhile ... hundreds of business disrupted / roads closed / bus routes altered - all so a few can profit and make "claims" about the "benefits" (One rider has already been suspended for drugs !)

The only people interested are those who have been told its a major event - and do as they are told and Watch it (and actually believe they are watching something that matters LOL !)

SHEEP !

Re:The world has gone - says ITK 11 Years ago
I remember at school trip, it was to walk an hour or so to a field and wait for 30 mins just see the cyclists for 30 seconds. Also In Hythe the council spent thousands preparing the roads and decorating the pavements, kids got the afternoon of school to cyclists go past it was all over in 30 seconds.

Is there one sport you like ITK, are people strapping you to a chair making you watch sport ?

Google is your friend - although you pretend to believe what suits you.

Your bigotry just can't allow for any positive comment about any sports/event...

... only 1000 tickets sold by yesterday !

==

Sally Burns, City of York Council's Director of Communities & Neighbourhoods, said that by last weekend, about 1,000 tickets had been sold but sales had been 'really brisk' over the last few days and the council expected that to continue throughout this week, as people were still deciding what to do at the weekend.

"Also, tickets will still be on sale on the door on the night of the concert and we're confident that many people will wait to see what the weather is like and then turn up on the day," she said.

www.yorkpress.co.uk/indepth/tourdefrance..._by_weekend/?ref=mac

btw - "really brisk" means the venue will be "papered" by tonight and the Council tax payers will be left with a massive bill !
