The implication that anyone who doesn't believe his tripe is a child abuser is beyond the pale.

The problem being, Honey, that those with not-fully-functioning brain cells use blatant tricks to justify their position. I don't think anybody feels that Savile (always a good idea to spell your victim's name correctly) never "abused anyone". The questions are - what was that "abuse" and how much has been exaggerated or affected by the effect of time passing on the memory as well as other outside influences?

A powerful TV show, for example, may assist someone into thinking that a pinched bum or a saucy remark was actually rape.

Or simply "assault".

Indeed, the passage of time may mean that it WOULD be considered assault today. In the 60s, 70s, 80s a pinched bum was naughty but acceptable (sometimes warranting a slap in return). These days it gets a jail sentence.

But some of us don't find this "incredible" and wouldn't advocate such measures as "never being in charge of children" an extreme and unfair punishment. Although far be it for us to censor the opinions of others.

There was a time ... not so long ago ... when anyone who was gay was not to be trusted anywhere near children (because all gays are child abusers aren't they?)

If you have a one dimentional agenda then all makes sense !

The problem is where all this stuff started, the internet. He claimed he found everything from internet rumours.
Very dangerous. Lots of rubbish printed online as most people will know.
That's why people are hesitant to believe all these accusations.
