The new 'sick man' of europe 11 Years ago
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2680028...-sides-Atlantic.html

'‘The UK and the US are showing similarly strong rates of growth while the eurozone is lagging.'

‘France is the problem. France remains the weakest link in the region’s recovery story. It is certainly the sick man of Europe, and Europe is the sick man of the global picture.’

The Eurozone is only as good as the worst performing members. It could have worked well, but politics meant countries not suited to it were included,a recipe for disaster!

My view is that come the next recession we will see it break up,in fact it will not have recovered from the first one,by the time the second comes along.
No doubt, even with all the facts some on here will take the opportunity of.....

A good idea?...to mix such diverse economies as Germany and Greece?...A stupid political dream, implemented by political fools, who mess with the very economic threads that keep all our heads above water.

no the concept is still good- that all will rise to the top..but of course politicians are bound to stuff it up and have. It's similar to the World Bank , another idea that eventually is used to decimate economies.

I do recall arriving from North in London just as Common Market began. Prices just rose and rose steadily.

so you have a good point, it may actually be a concept that is impossible to implement and thus, will fail badly.

EU has many good things going for it. The EU court of justice has helped many in the UK find justice. And I am sure if the UK got a government who decided to really contribute in good trade and laws etc it could add to a positive move forward. As to the difference in ecocomies that all can be sorted by good leaders ensuring the money flows. The alternative would be the disgrace the US has with how Mexico is to the US. The US should be pulling the Mexicans up not just using them for cheap dispensable labour. The UK and other do not like the EU because they are a threat to their dictatorial type leadership. What I warn people is not to be taken in by propaganda and step back and decide what you would like to see. Like, for example, that when any of us encounter the legal system in any EU country we would get fair and just treatment in all legal matters in all EU countries. The law that we have from the EU for today's madness in the UK is the right to a fair trial. Not accessible from UK law but EU wide law has it in article 6 I think. Let us get into the Europe thing and see a fair justice system come about. That is one thing amongst others.
