I would rather see a petition calling for MPs to introduce a Statute of Limitations for sexual crimes.
I think we can safely guess that an all full lot of people were 'at it' during the 60s, 70s and 80s, but nothing can be proved without a reasonable doubt now, and anyway, who cares.
My first lover was in a Home in Northern Ireland during the 70s, and related many stories of being picked up by older men, taken to parties, homes, given presents and bought clothes. He mentioned some politicians that even I had heard of. He wasn't complaining, didn't feel abused but looked upon that time with a certain fondness.
It happened, it perhaps doesn't today, but what right do we have to bring up all these allegations today when attitudes and opinions are completely different.

I don't think this is about young men going on date nights to the opera with closeted MPs.
This could be quite explosive due to the supposed inaction/coverup of the Government at the time. We all go on about about why alleged victims don't say anything at the time. This dossier was produced at a time when the abuse was supposedly still going on and somehow it disappeared - we can only assume it was brushed under the carpet/shredded during a time when the UK government was dealing with the IRA and the miners. Child abuse cases weren't as interesting to the media then either, and MWT was still in short trousers. If it had been acted upon in 1983 we may have got fresh witness statements, confessions, etc.

Now we have the prospect of a drawn out expensive enquiry; stale witness statements, and dead men being convicted without a proper trial. Coupled with the many false accusations amongst the few truthful ones. Having said that, there are a few MP's still alive who may be able to shed some light. Perhaps the reason why the ex Home Secretary released his 'memory recall' statement via his solicitors and not through his own office or the Lords was because he is expecting a call from Keith Vaz.
