Parliament should be recalled immediately to debate the Gaza crisis, George Galloway said today. The Bradford West MP has written to the Speaker of the House of Commons asking him for an urgent debate on the slaughter taking place in the most crowded place on earth.
Galloway said. “MPs cannot sit on the beaches or on our hands as hundreds of Palestinians are murdered. This is an issue in which Britain is deeply involved, as the author of the original and disastrous division of the region and a major supporter of Israel - and major weapons supplier! - since. We cannot stand by in the face of this murderous carnage. The British parliament has to discuss this now and come out with a clear and unequivocal condemnation of the slaughter of civilians, principally women and children.”
Galloway's e-mail to The Speaker:
"Mr Speaker,
I have been inundated with calls and emails from constituents asking why parliament is not sitting whilst the catastrophe in Gaza unfolds. I am therefore formally requesting that you recall parliament to debate our attitude towards the conflict and how the government should proceed in relation to it.
With my best wishes as always,
George Galloway, MP for Bradford West "
