“I am sorry for causing that type of pain,”

classic psychopath: all about him.

Lennon, Yoko, John's family /friends /fans barely a mention.

he's basically saying he's sorry about how it all worked out for him. Not anyone else.

safer for all that he is locked up.

there are plenty of psychopaths out there-running banks, working in shops, on the dole or in Parliament. It's whether he's still dangerous.
Would be terrible if he's just locked up forever because he killed someone famous

I agree hedda, IDS has killed lots and he still walking free.
